Denver City Council MUST Reject the Flavor Ban.
Denver Can’t Afford To Repeat Golden’s Mistake
Golden’s ban on flavored nicotine products hurt local businesses, slashing their revenue and pushing loyal customers to shop outside city limits. Despite clear evidence this policy has hurt Golden’s small businesses, the Denver City Council is now taking steps to replicate it here.
Golden retailers have faced drastic revenue losses since the ban took effect, leaving small business owners struggling to stay afloat. Forced to shop elsewhere, customers now spend their dollars in neighboring cities – not in Golden. The policy has been so damaging that the City of Golden created a $100,000 relief fund to help small businesses offset the lost sales. Denver can’t afford to make the same mistake.
Flavor bans force customers to shop in other towns, drives millions in potential sales elsewhere and puts jobs at risk. Denver has a choice: protect local businesses and keep revenue in our city or fail to learn from the negative consequences that took place in Golden.
